Itinerary

Day 1: Victoria Peak, Sky Terrace, Repulse Bay & Aberdeen Fishing Village

The first stop on your itinerary will be the famous Victoria Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island, at 552 meters. You will reach this iconic destination via the legendary Peak Tram, which has been operating for over 130 years and is one of the oldest funicular railways in the world. From the Sky Terrace 428 observation deck, you will be treated to breath-taking 360-degree views of the bustling city, including the stunning skyline and Victoria Harbour, as well as the peaceful green landscape. You may also take a leisurely stroll and capture some stunning photos.

Next, you will depart from the busy city centre and head to ‘Hawaii of the Orient’ – Repulse Bay. This picturesque crescent-shaped beach boasts a long coastline, soft sand, clear water, and comfortable temperatures. It is also home to some of Hong Kong’s most affluent residents. You will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful sea views and visit the Tin Hau Temple, which sits facing the ocean.

Afterward, you will continue your tour with a visit to the Aberdeen Fishing Village. Here, you will gain a fascinating glimpse into the traditional way of life in a fishing village, as you witness rows of ancient junks, sampans, and private yachts. If you wish, you may opt for a sampan tour, which provides a fun and unique perspective of the floating village and its residents’ way of living.

Upon completing the tour, your driver will take you back to your hotel in the downtown area. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free for you to explore at your leisure. If you have the time and desire to continue your exploration, we suggest following our below recommended itinerary for further discoveries.

This afternoon, you can visit the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple. This Taoist holy place is dedicated to the deity Wong Tai Sin, who is known as a powerful healer. Legend has it that when he was just 15 years old, Wong Tai Sin was taught by an immortal how to create a miraculous herbal concoction that could cure any ailment. The temple is renowned for its special practice known as kau chim, which is believed to grant prayers with the saying, ‘What you request is what you get.’ Take in the authentic and devout atmosphere as you pray and participate in kau chim for good luck. Afterward, continue your journey to Nan Lian Garden, a stunning garden modelled after the Tang Dynasty style. This enchanting garden features a beautiful golden pagoda, a tranquil koi pond, and a collection of unique rocks from all over China. While there, be sure to also explore the nearby Chi Lin Nunnery. This Buddhist complex, designed in the Tang Dynasty style, is a place of tranquillity with serene lotus ponds, bonsai tea plants, colorful bougainvillea, and peaceful nuns offering fruits and rice to Buddha or chanting behind intricate screens.

In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along the Avenue of Stars on the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, located right by Victoria Harbour. Marvel at the magnificent views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, with its bustling skyline filled with impressive skyscrapers. If time permits, be sure to catch the sensational ‘A Symphony of Lights’ show, held every night at 8:00 PM.

Day 2: Macau and Ruins of St Paul’s

Take a detour to Macau on your trip today. This former Portuguese settlement, dating back to 1670, is renowned for its variety of casinos, delectable cuisine, and impressive architecture. Board the jetfoil from Hong Kong for a one-hour ride to Macau. Upon arrival, start your day by exploring the historic Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral, a Gothic church built by the Portuguese in 1562. Once the largest cathedral in Asia, it now stands as a 350-year-old World Cultural Heritage Site, representing Macau. Marvel at the intricate European and traditional Oriental design elements visible in its carvings, patterns, and figures. Then, take a short walk to the remaining section of the ancient city wall, built by the Portuguese 300 years ago to protect against outside threats.

Next, wander to Senado Square (Largo do Senado), a bustling hub of 17th-century Portuguese architecture. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere as you stroll down the charming lanes and witness the daily lives of Macau locals. Afterward, continue to the A-Ma Temple, a 400-year-old place of worship showcasing traditional Chinese construction and local beliefs. Be moved by the sincere devotion of people from both Macau and mainland China to the deity A-Ma.

To learn about Macau’s history, visit the Border Gate (Portas do Cerco), where the Qing dynasty and Kingdom of Portugal engaged in a border dispute in the 1840s. Discover the significance of this event to both Macau and mainland China. If you’re interested, take a trip to one of Macau’s famous casinos (minimum age 21).

At the end of the tour, return to the Macau pier and take the jetfoil back to Hong Kong.
