Turkmenbashi-Ruhy-Mosque-Ashgabat

Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Mosque, also known as Kipchak mosque, in local language Turkmenbashi Ruhy Metjidi. Situated in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. It is the largest mosque in the city, and one of its main landmarks. Turkmenistan has some of the largest natural gas reserves in the world, and as a result is vastly wealthy. Most of Ashgabat’s buildings are clad in white Carrara marble. The country is the largest importer of Italian marble in the world. The country only sees fewer than 10,000 tourists each year, and is an authoritarian regime, highly closed off to foreigners.
