Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival & Transfer to Thimphu
On your first day of arrival, you’ll be welcomed by a tour guide at the airport and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On the drive you’ll catch your first glimpses of the magnificent Himalayan Mountain range that makes the country such a popular destination for photographers and trekkers alike. You’ll visit the Memorial Chorten and the inner temple gives the first insight into the prominence of Buddhism in the country. In the evening you’ll visit Tashicho Dzong before enjoying dinner.

Day 2 Thimphu Tour
Start your tour with a visit to paper factory and weaving centre. Changgangkha Temple harks back to 12 century architecture and its historic roots. Drunthop nunnery built in the 15th century, gives an insight of life as a nun in Bhutan. There will be a short drive to Mothithang mini-zoo to see the Takin (National animal of Bhutan). An afternoon hike to Sangaygang Cross, through beautiful pine forests that make you at one with nature. Arrive back in Thimphu in time for some free exploration time. Maybe explore Thimphu’s local market.

Day 3 Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdi
From Thimphu, travel to Punakha/Wangdi by road through Dochula Pass, 3150 metres above sea level for breath-taking views. if you’re lucky you may spot Gankar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain. On arrival to Wangdi take a hike to Chimi Lhakhang Temple. When you reach Punakha visit Punakha Dzong. Later in the evening, relax and stay overnight at Punakha.

Day 4 Wangdi/Punakha – Paro
Depart from Punakha/Wangdi to Paro. On arrival in Paro visit Rimpung Dzong, once a key power of authority the country back in the 17th century. Free time to explore in the evening and overnight stay in Paro.

Day 5 Paro Tour
Start your day with a hike to the famous and sacred Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Nestled in the mountainside it can be accessed by hiking to the concealed one route entrance. The views are well worth the effort and will seem like a different world. On the way down walk through lush sprawling forests and visit the oldest temple in Bhutan, the 7th century Kyichu Temple. In the evening, visit the local markets and get involved with local life.

Day 6 Paro – Departure Flight
Your last day in Bhutan will be a free morning until your transfer to the airport for your departure flight back home.
