Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, opening ceremony. One to one nutrition consultation, orientation walk of Kathmandu Durbar Square and Thamel

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel and welcomed by your Tour leader with an opening ceremony and tea and snacks. There will be one-to-one consultation on your food habits and nutrition, and you can spend the time in the hotel lobby or your room until your turn. You will then go for a tour of the Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is one of the eight World Heritage sites listed by UNESCO. It is a cluster of ancient temples such as Kumari Chowk, the Courtyard of the living Goddess ‘Kumari’, Aakash Bhairav Temple, Temple of Lord Machhindranath, palace courtyards and streets that date back to the 12th and 18th centuries. You will also go to Itumbahal, an old Newari settlement in a large courtyard known for its traders in herbal spices and medicines, and Indrachowk, one of Kathmandu’s most colourful and ancient local markets. Ason chowk, another market dedicated to spices and local vegetables, and Annapurna temple, which is dedicated to the goddess of Grains, will also be visited. Afterwards, you will head to Thamel, a popular tourist hub, to become familiar with the local culture and surroundings. Finally, you will return to Hotel Traditional Comfort for a relaxed evening.

Day 2: Morning meditation & yoga and a nutrition consultation. Visit Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. Reflection on death (Buddhism). Yoga and Shirodhara at Avata Wellness Centre

Start your day with a session of morning Meditation and Yoga, followed by a nutritious breakfast. After that, take part in a one-on-one nutrition consultation with the tour leader, while others may have some free time. Today, you will be visiting two UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple – and engaging in discussions and reflections on death according to Buddhism. The Swayambhunath Stupa is situated on top of a conical hill, which can be reached by climbing a few steps. From there, you can witness a panoramic view of the Kathmandu city. The Stupa is also commonly known as the ‘monkey temple’ due to the large tribe of monkeys who guard the temple. The Pashupatinath Temple, dedicated to the Hindu Lord Shiva, the God of Destruction, is a popular pilgrimage center for devotees from all over the world. Built in around 400 A.D, the temple is located by the holy river Bagmati and decorated with ancient arts and crafts. It has four main gates, each of which is made of silver and allocated for the four-faced lingam (phallic symbol of Shiva), signifying the lord’s blessing that shall spread in all four directions. You can also find many Hindu Sadhus around the temple, with long dreadlocks, meditating by the Bagmati river and occasionally smoking marijuana. At Avata Wellness Center, you have some free time to relax or explore on your own. Afterwards, you can join a group yoga workshop to build upon your practice and perfect your asanas. Then, you can enjoy a SHIRODHARA treatment at the spa for stress relief and to increase your serotonin levels. Fuel up with a nutritious breakfast, then head to Thimi for a hands-on pottery making session, connecting with local artisans. Afterwards, take a captivating sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, discovering the historical architecture and culture of the ancient city. Bhaktapur is the essential Newari city, known for its fine buildings and structures from the 14th-16th centuries, and is still home to many ponds, shrines, and temples. The locals are mostly farmers and craftspeople who have been providing for the city since its founding in the 12th century. Check into the Hotel Bhadgaon for the night and end the day with an exciting dance session and emotion release therapy.

Day 5: Flight to Pokhara and drive to Kande. Hike to Australian Camp. Restorative yoga.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then be transferred to the airport to catch a morning flight to Pokhara City. The 25-minute flight will give you an unparalleled view of the majestic mountain ranges, hills, and lakes. Popularly known as the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, Pokhara is a paradise for travellers, adventurers, and trekkers alike. After checking into the Temple Tree Resort, you will drive to Kande and then trek for about 3 hours to the Australian Base Camp. The trail is a steeply paved stone path lined with forests that will let you witness the serene Pokhara Valley resting in the lap of lush green hills. You will also get to experience a Restorative Yoga session. From the Australian Base Camp, you will trek to Dhampus, a traditional Nepali village and later to Phedi along an old trail of stone steps. Finally, you will be driven back to the hotel to rest and relax.

Day 6: Meditation & yoga. Drive to Hemjaphedi. Day hike to Hemjakot. Farm activity. Hip-opening yoga.

In the morning, you will find serenity in Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation. Start the day off right with a nutritious breakfast, then dive into a Workshop that focuses on Nutrition and Yoga Asanas for longevity. You will then take a drive down Baglung Highway to Hemjaphedi, beginning a two-hour uphill hike to Hemjakot village, passing through lush jungles and small settlements. Upon arriving, you will be warmly welcomed with tikas, garlands, and Bhangras (a white cloth worn criss-cross over the chest) in accordance with the local Pokhreli tradition. A short hike to the Hemjakot viewpoint offers a stunning view of the surrounding valleys and the Annapurna range, with its majestic Macchapuchre “Fishtail” in full view. You will then have a nourishing local lunch with one of the families who are part of the Community Homestay Network, a program they have embraced for the chance it gives them to meet and learn about people from all over the world, as well as to support their income. You can spend the afternoon getting to know the village, its inhabitants, and its culture, as well as participating in their daily activities and seasonal farming activities if you wish.
