Nami Island
Namiseom is an intriguing island, shaped like a crescent moon due to the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam on the North Han River. Its name is derived from General Nami, a hero who aided Korea in its victory against rebels during the reign of King Sejo of the Joseon Dynasty. To preserve its natural beauty, all electrical wires are hidden beneath the ground, ensuring that no telephone poles are visible. Come and explore Nami Island, located in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province! This fairytale land was once a wasteland before 1965, but now it’s the filming location of the famous K-Drama ‘Winter Sonata’, where the protagonists had their first kiss. Our Nami Island tours offer the chance to follow into the drama’s literal footsteps and experience all the seasonal events, numerous sites, and cafes the island has to offer. Take a walk down the Ginko Tree Lane, famous for its beautiful golden colours, savour the pan-fried rice cake, a real treat for those who love crispy and crunchy, take beautiful photos along Metasequoia Road with the stunning redwood trees, or grab a bicycle and go for a spin around the beautiful scenery. When the weather is warm, you can enjoy the water garden swimming pool to freshen up. This is a lovely option both for adults and kids.
Garden of Morning Calm
The Garden of Morning Calm is the oldest private garden in South Korea, opened on May 11th, 1996, by horticultural professor Sang-kyung Han. Its breathtaking scenery of Chungryeongsan Mountain is a popular filming location for movies like The Letter (1997) and dramas like Love in the Moonlight (2016), as well as the beloved Korean variety show Infinite Challenge. Professor Han envisioned a special space that showcased Korea’s unique beauty and spirit, and he achieved this by creating 20 sections of 5,000 plants, including 300 native varieties from Baekdu Mountain. Visitors can explore the Sunken Garden, the Cloud Bridge, J’s Cottage Garden, the Pond Garden, the Moonlight Garden, the Road to Heaven, the Millennium Juniper, and the Morning Plaza. The Garden of Morning Calm also offers numerous seasonal events and exhibitions.
