One Day Vietnam Itinerary: Art in Hanoi

Day 1: Hanoi Fine Art Museum, Manzi Art Space & Lacquer School Tay Ho

In the morning, you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi and taken to the Hanoi Fine Art Museum for a historical overview of Vietnamese art. Afterwards, you will visit Manzi Art Space and Café, a culture and art complex established by art lover and director Tram Vu. This gallery-cafe is dedicated to promoting culture and art in Hanoi, and regularly hosts exhibitions and sales of works by Hanoi-based artists. This is a great addition to your Vietnam trip itinerary. You can also visit one or two commercial galleries in the city or attend any exhibitions that may be running at the time. After lunch, you’ll drive along the Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural Streets of Tran Nhat Duat and Yen Phu to the Lacquer School Tay Ho, a lacquer art centre run by Artist Tran Anh Tuan. Here you will learn about the history of lacquer profession in Vietnam, materials and tools, and techniques to create lacquer paintings. The artist will demonstrate some of these techniques to you and allow you to experience creating your own Lacquer painting. After finishing, you can bring the painting home as a souvenir or gift for your loved ones. Lastly, you will be transferred back to your hotel and be free at leisure for the night.
