This royal Thai residence has served many purposes over its illustrious lifespan, most notably as the primary royal residence before the royal court moved to Dusit Palace in the 18th century. With its impressive architecture, intricate details, and a cityscape view of the Chao Phraya River, the Royal Grand Palace is must-see.
Continue your tour with a visit to the majestic Wat Phra Kaew, or the ‘Temple of the Emerald Buddha’. Located inside the Grand Palace complex, this Buddhist temple is a beautiful example of traditional Thai architecture. Inside, you’ll find a revered Emerald Buddha statue – the most important religious object in Thailand.
Not far from Wat Phra Kaew is Wat Pho, Thailand’s first public university, where you’ll find an iconic golden reclining Buddha. The temple compound also houses a massage school and, of course, plenty of gorgeous temples. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also partake in one of the temple’s traditional Thai massages – the perfect way to end an amazing day trip.
From Wat Pho, the tour will take you to Wat Traimitr, home of the largest gold Buddhist sculpture in the world and one of the best places to travel to in Thailand. Measuring more than five feet tall, this statue is composed of solid gold and is breath taking. Finally, you’ll take a stroll through Bangkok’s Chinatown, where you will find an endless array of restaurants, shops, and street stalls selling all sorts of delights.
