Day 01: Six Senses Thimphu “Palace in the Sky”

  • Arrival in Paro International Airport and meet your driver for a private transfer to your hotel in Thimphu.
  • Follow the Paro River until Chuzom. Enjoy the picturesque scenery as we pass by some of the beautiful villages of Bondey, Shaba, Isuna.
  • Visit Arts and Crafts Vocational School, where you can see live carving, painting, and sculpture.
  • Folk Heritage Museum learn fascinating insights into the Bhutanese material culture and way of life. Tashichho Dzong Houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan which was built in the 17th Century.

Day 2: Six Senses Thimphu to Six Senses Punakha “Flying Farmhouse Amidst Rice Fields”

  • Drive a scenic route to Punakha from Thimphu over Dochula pass to one of the warmest places in Bhutan.
  • Chimi Lhakhang- This temple is known as the temple of fertility. There are stories and incidences that many visitors dream came true.
  • Punakha Dzong-Built in 1637 and was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of great happiness).
  • Punakha Suspension Bridge -is one of the longest of its kind in Bhutan.
  • The bridge connects the dzong with the villages Shengana, Samdingkha and Wangkha on the other bank of the Po Chhu River.

Day 3: Six Senses Punakha “Flying Farmhouse Amidst Rice Fields”

  • This morning begins with a hike through terraced rice fields as you ascend towards Chorten Ningpo, a monastery which dates to the 17th century, a 2.5-hour moderate hike.
  • Visit Kabasa village on the way with its school, monastery, and typical Bhutanese farmhouses.
  • Continue to climb towards Chorten Ningpo
  • On the way back to the lodge stop off to visit the home of Aum Tshewang and sample her homemade ara (Bhutanese moonshine).
  • For Lunch enjoy a Bhutanese Thali set served outdoors on the patio at the lodge. Enjoy emi datshi, Bhutan’s incendiary national dish of chilis and cheese.
  • This afternoon, explore the beautiful Punakha Dzong, known officially as Pungtang Dechen Phodrang Dzong
  • Afterwards you can choose to bicycle or try white water rafting along the river next to the dzong or relax back at the lodge. This evening, try a delicious Indian menu at Ari, the lodge’s signature restaurant, or you can choose a poolside barbecue.

Day 4: Six Senses Punakha to Six Senses Paro “Stone Ruins”

  • Proceed to Paro, we will retrace the journey crossing over Dochula, up until Chuzom and further to Paro.
  • Semtokha Dzong- The name literally means “Atop a Demon”. The dzong was modelled after the Gyal Gyad Tshel Institute of Ralung (Tibet).
  • Chuzom- Meeting point of two rivers (Thimphu & Paro) this is tri junction of highway leading to Thimphu, Paro and Phuentsholing into three directions.
  • Rinpung Dzong‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels’, is ranked one of the best Bhutanese architectures.
  • Beer tasting at Namgay Artisanal Brewery: They brew many styles of beers, considering the different drinking palates for taste, making sure that all beer-lovers are satisfied.
